Observations

Yesterday our class learned about observations. To do this, we lit a tea light candle and we made some observations about it. We also learned about what is not a observation, for example, "smelly" is not an observation. Observations are more detailed than that. Here are some of my observations.

  1.  The wick starts to sink after around 10 seconds,
  2.  The bottom of the wick is turning black,
  3.   There is a circle of wax forming around the wick,
  4. The tip of the wick changes from a red glow to a gold glow every 5 or so seconds,
  5.  Most of the wax is liquidised, it is now transparent,
  6.  It doesn't have a distinct smell at the moment,
  7. The wax at the bottom is slowly setting, it is becoming more and more opaque,
  8.  The wick is white at the bottom,
  9.  I can see a light blue tint on the bottom of the flame,
  10. The wax pool is getting wider and wider,
  11. The shape of the wick is changing from a small triangle, to a larger teardrop,
  12. The wick is starting to sink now after around 2 minutes,
  13. The wick is starting to form wax,
  14. There is a small scent of ash and smoke, it's not very strong,. It's pretty hard to really smell,
  15. The size of the candle is getting smaller and smaller,
  16. The smell is getting a bit stronger, but it is more of ashy smell now.

Act 1 songs for our Musical

For our musical that we are going to do, we have to pick some song options.

Possibly something from Grease maybe "we go together" or "greased lightning". There are many other musicals to choose from such as Hairspray, maybe "you can't stop the beat". Possibly something from Hamilton, we listened to "nonstop" and it looks really good, I think that it would be a good option for us. Some of these options would be good because they would include all of the people in our class.

For our own group musical, Molly and I are still struggling to find a musical number for our group to perform. There are so many possibilities!

Response to the resent rocket launch

Watching the SpaceX car launch has made me think a lot of things, especially about all of the planets and the rocket ships themselves. How long do the people have to study about the planets themselves to go to any planet on a rocket ship? I find it very fascinating that people have got the skills to actually get a rocket into orbit and into another atmosphere. How do people make the rocket? What material is best for building a rocket, and how long do engineers spend building these rockets? All of the people that made all of this possible have probably been spending all of their time, working on this amazing rocket and you could hear it in their cheers when the rocket was finally launched. This makes me wonder how much work actually goes into building this rocket.  All of these people have probably spent most of their spare time, on a computer or building the rocket. I think that regular people are now realising how much work is actually put into building rockets and launching them.
