Yesterday our class learned about observations. To do this, we lit a tea light candle and we made some observations about it. We also learned about what is not a observation, for example, "smelly" is not an observation. Observations are more detailed than that. Here are some of my observations.
- The wick starts to sink after around 10 seconds,
- The bottom of the wick is turning black,
- There is a circle of wax forming around the wick,
- The tip of the wick changes from a red glow to a gold glow every 5 or so seconds,
- Most of the wax is liquidised, it is now transparent,
- It doesn't have a distinct smell at the moment,
- The wax at the bottom is slowly setting, it is becoming more and more opaque,
- The wick is white at the bottom,
- I can see a light blue tint on the bottom of the flame,
- The wax pool is getting wider and wider,
- The shape of the wick is changing from a small triangle, to a larger teardrop,
- The wick is starting to sink now after around 2 minutes,
- The wick is starting to form wax,
- There is a small scent of ash and smoke, it's not very strong,. It's pretty hard to really smell,
- The size of the candle is getting smaller and smaller,
- The smell is getting a bit stronger, but it is more of ashy smell now.
