Distillation of coke (the drink)

Aim: The aim of our experiment was to get pure water from coke.

Method: We set up the equipment like this.

                                               

             This is our set up for the conical flask. It had around 50mls of coke in it. We had the Bunsen burner set up, we also had a gauze mat underneath the flask. We filled up a conical flask with 50mls of coke and had a delivery tube going from it to another boiling tube inside some icy cold water. 

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      

For the water we had a beaker full of it with some ice. This was going to melt potentially. There was a boiling tube inside of it.
Observations: In the conical flask you could see the volume of the coke decrease due to the water evaporating. In the boiling tube you could see fairly clear water.
